Client took decision to modernise its chemical plant in order to be in compliance with EU regulation. This modernization increases electric and process steam demand.
Therefore client decided to perform a simplified feasibility study of construction of new cogeneration plant with electrical output 45 MWe and supply of 50 t/h of process steam with pressure 1,2 MPa and temperature 240°C.
SKODA PRAHA took into account various options how to ensure required performance. Because of availability of natural gas and with consideration of environmental requirements and available space combined cycle power plant (CCPP) in arrangement 1 gas turbine + 1 heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) + 1 steam turbine was recommended as suitable heat and power source. Dual-pressure HRSG without reheat, condensing steam turbine with extractions for heat output and induced draft cooling towers were selected.
In economic evaluation of the project two variants were compared regarding power outlet – island operation or connection to public grid. In conclusion the project was evaluated as feasible and its implementation in island operation variant was recommended.
